National Doughnut Day

Who doesn’t love doughnuts?? We do and this is the perfect holiday for this sweet treat with humble beginnings. How did such a thing as “National Doughnut Day” come to be, you ask? It was the idea of The Salvation Army back in 1938 to honor the women who served doughnuts to soldiers in the first World War. The holiday actually began as a fundraiser for Chicago’s Salvation Army. The goal of their 1938 fundraiser was to help the needy during the Great Depression.

Now, when scoping out your doughnut of choice tomorrow, CoHi has one of the best places for sweet treats, the well known Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats. Known for their scrumptious vegan and gluten free options, they’re sure to satisfy your sweet tooth this Doughnut Day! Using no animal products at all in her menu, Doron Petersan of Sticky Fingers has garnered a solid following of her delectable vegan pastries and her doughnuts are no exception.

So good she and her restaurant were featured on Food Network, this is one sweet place you’ll want to make sure you grab a bite from!
