Based out of the Columbia Heights / Mt. Pleasant neighborhoods, We Are Family is a local nonprofit dedicated to reaching and serving seniors in DC by bringing services directly to their doors – at no cost.
They currently serve more than 800 seniors throughout the District, and provide everything from food to friendly visits. Due to the COVID-19 health crisis, We Are Family has greatly revamped their grocery delivery services.
They are currently in need of volunteers to assist with grocery deliveries in Columbia Heights and Park View on Saturday, October 24. Start times are staggered from 9:45 am to 12:30 pm to help maintain social distancing.
If you are interested, you can sign up for a spot here. Limited routes are available for volunteers without cars.
Any volunteers who sign up for a delivery will receive an email from We Are Family at the beginning of the week for the delivery date you signed up for. The email will ask you to fill out a survey. Please fill out the survey by the given deadline and you will receive further details (instructions, delivery lists, and assigned arrival times).
