UPDATE 2/11/21: According to a tweet from Eater_DC, Taco Bell Cantina has applied for a liquor license. The requested hours of operation (which could vary from actual operating hours) for alcohol sales are 8am-2am Sunday-Thursday and 8am-3am on Friday and Saturday. Columbia Heights Insider has confirmed, their request can be found in ABRA’s records online.

Back in February, WTOP and Washington Post confirmed the news that a Taco Bell Cantina was headed to Columbia Heights. Then the pandemic hit, and it’s been crickets ever since.

Many readers have asked us whether Taco Bell Cantina is still coming to Columbia Heights. This recent tweet by Michael Neibauer, Managing Editor of the Washington Business Journal, suggests that Yum! Brands is moving forward with plans to bring a Taco Bell Cantina to Columbia Heights.

According to Taco Bell, a Taco Bell Cantina restaurant is “equipped with a fancy new look, open kitchen, custom menu and specialty alcoholic beverages like beer, wine, sangria and liquor versions of our classic Freezes.”

Are you for or against Taco Bell Cantina coming to Columbia Heights?
