Traditional outdoor sidewalk sales may not be possible this summer, but that isn’t stopping small businesses in DC from offering DC residents an alternative summer shopping experience.
On Saturday, August 8th and Sunday, August 9th, more than 150 businesses across the District will participate in the citywide DC Dog Days virtual sidewalk sale.
Historically, DC Dog Days has been an in-person sidewalk sale that draws more than 20,000 visitors to the 14th & U Street neighborhoods each August. This year, District Bridges is partnering with DC Shop Small to take the MidCity Dog Days sidewalk sale online and expand the DC neighborhoods participating in response to COVID-19.
Several Columbia Heights businesses will be participating in the upcoming sale, including Tivoli’s Astounding Magic Supply Co. and The Nimble Barber.
Run by local nonprofit 826DC, all purchases from Tivoli’s Astounding Magic Supply Co help fund free writing programs, homework help, and publishing opportunities for DC students ages 6-18. This weekend, anyone who uses the promo code “DCDOGDAYS” on their website will get 15% off of their purchase.
Looking for a way to support local makers? The Nimble Barber is a custom woodworking businesses owned and operated by local Columbia Heights resident Quinn Franklin. He creates stunning wood pieces, including kitchenware, board games, home decor, and more.
