Sweet! Sonny’s Pizza and the adjoining No Kisses cocktail bar open today. The spots, from the crew behind Colony Club, announced on Instagram that today’s the day.

I stopped by last week for their soft opening and enjoyed it. The menu consists of square pizza by the slice or a whole pie, Italian sandwiches on big focaccia bread like meatball, chicken parmesan and eggplant parm, and Italian salads and sides (garlic knots, meatballs, etc.) They also had beer, wine and cocktails. You order at the counter and sit down, and they bring it to you. There’s also a small bar you can sit at.

No Kisses, which is next door down a little hallway, is also a really cool, cozy cocktail spot with interesting lighting. It kind of reminds me of the room at the end of 2001: A Space Odyssey. The ceiling lights change colors too, it was blue one day and red another. I can see it as a great date spot or quiet place for hanging with your friends. There’s also a big patio with a truck that also serves as a bar.

The prices are decent – it’s about $4 a slice, which are pretty thick and about $12 for a sandwich. The whole pies are about $30, which seems a little high, but they’re also a good amount of food. For example, my dining companion and I got four slices, meatballs, Caesar salad and garlic knots, and we  had two or three meals worth of food each. Another day we got sandwiches for take out, and two sandwiches plus the garlic knots were enough for three of us. The sandwiches were good, and the focaccia is awesome.
