Soldiers Home Fall Fun Fest coming up Oct. 5: music, antique cars, golf, crafts, beer, tours, more!

October is near, which means Oktoberfest celebrations are near. The Friends of the Old Soldiers Home is hosting a Fall Fun Fest, which events for families, kids and adults, on Sunday Oct. 5 at the Old Soldiers Home grounds, aka the Armed Forces Retirement Home. It’s an impressive complex with lots of green, rolling hills. In the past the Friends group have had July 4th celebrations and other neat events there.

8 a.m.: Antique Car registration/refreshments

8 a.m.-2 p.m.: Army Hum V vehicle display

9 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Antique Car Show
9 a.m.-2 p.m.: Medical Response vehicle display
9 a.m.: Public Golf Tournament

9 a.m.-11:45 a.m.: DJ Music Man Billy White
9:30-Noon: Quarters 1/Sherman Tower/Lincoln Cottage Tours
10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Information booths/exhibits
10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Resident Arts and Crafts Sales
11 a.m.-11:30 a.m.: Navy Drill Team performance
11 a.m.-2 p.m.: beer/bourbon tasting
11:45 a.m.: Model T Club demonstration
12:30-1:30 p.m.: Brass Quintet Band performance
12:15 p.m. Car Show Awards presentations
1 p.m.-4 p.m.: City of Memory Project digitizing memorabilia
1 p.m.-5 p.m.: Edelweiss Band/Bavarian-Austrian Dancers
1 p.m.-5 p.m.: Beer, Food Trucks, Children’s Activities
1:30-4 p.m.: Pumpkin patch picking, painting, field games
1:30-2:30: PAL animal visit

1:30-3:30: Fishing Rodeo at ponds
1:30: Military Golf Tournament

NOTE: Car traffic may enter Randolph Gate only; foot traffic may enter Randolph or Upshur Gates
