This is conceivably pretty great — WMATA has just unveiled a new system to report bus service disruptions to your mobile phone or email.
I’ve noticed before that sometimes the NextBus system isn’t quite right, so I hope this helps. For example, a couple of days ago I was taking the 64 downtown in the morning and it said it would be there in 5 minutes. 20 minutes later, it showed up, meaning my commute was roughly double the usual time.
Of course, I’m not sure what sorts of alerts this system will provide — is it more for detours or delays or something else? We’ll find out.
