This Thursday the city is hosting a meeting on the redevelopment plans for the old Hebrew Home site at 1125 Spring Rd NW. The building is currently empty, and plans may include senior housing, market rate housing, subsidized housing or some combination of those. Other people have suggested moving residents from the Park Morton complex to the building, so that the Bruce-Monroe Park is maintained.
This is a good opportunity to give your feedback and hear about some of plans for the site, which is an impressive old building that was formerly a retirement home for Jewish people, and when that moved to the suburbs, became various city social facilities.
The meeting is 7pm on Thursday, June 2 at Raymond Rec Center, 3275 10th Street NW.

As you know, this redevelopment project is currently going through Mayor Bowser’s OurRFP process. On April 9th, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (“DMPED”) and the Office of Planning (“OP”) held a community engagement workshop at Raymond Recreation Center and an online engagement forum has been live since that date.
