Last month I wrote about 826DC, the nonprofit that tutors kids on reading and writing, which is opening on the Civic Plaza (14th/Park/Kenyon). It’s a nationwide group started by author Dave Eggers, and each location has a quirky storefront of some kind — in DC’s case it’s the Museum of Unnatural History. Last night a friend walked by and snapped these photos of what looks like a horse skeleton going up inside. Could also be some kind of other creature.
Tomorrow they’re hosting a special sneak preview/fundraiser to see the progress on the exhibits, so I’m guessing this is part of the preparation.
The website also says their grand opening is a few weeks away. I’m looking forward to it, as this is a really cool addition to the neighborhood and the Civic Plaza. Much better than another bank or cell phone store.
