Halloween is upon us (weather notwithstanding) and a lot of local bars are getting into the spirit. Here’s a rundown of what’s happening and where

The bars and restaurants on 14th Street are hosting “Brains and Booze” starting at 6pm on the 28th, with food and drink specials at the Red Derby, the Airedale, the Pinch, Mezcalero, Taqueria Habanero, Little Coco’s and Lyman’s Tavern. The City Paper has more: Little Coco’s has spooky drinks like squid ink martinis, congealed blood Jello shots and more. The Airedale has costume karaoke, there’s live music at the Pinch and Mezcalero has a $25 cover that goes to Mexican earthquake relief, plus late night dinner and DJs.

The Red Derby, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, is also hosting Motown Halloween with cocktails and DJs playing Motown records on the 28th. Sounds fun.

Also on the 28th, Looking Glass over on Georgia has a Halloween Spooktacular with DJs and live musical accompaniments and a costume contest starting at 10:30pm.

Wonderland will have a dance party on the 28th (lots of people go in costume) and on the 31st are having a costume contest a spooky host, Mona Disa.

Union Drinkery has a costume contest on the 28th with a $100 bar tab prize.
