Ground broken on condos at 14th & Quincy, site of burned hotel

Looks like development on 14th around Spring in speeding up. Last year, the vacant former C&K Hotel at 14th and Qunicy burned down — the hotel was a former transient hotel and site of drug use and prostitution. Earlier this year we heard that the replacement was to be  20 condo units with retail, possibly a 7-Eleven.

And today, I saw construction equipment working, breaking ground and digging in the area. I don’t know many more details, but nice to see some work happening after a few months.

This is the third project that’s started recently in the area, along with apartments currently under construction at the corner of 14th and Spring (wrapping around the New Dodge Market) and condos on Spring between 13th and 14th. And amazingly enough, there’s even progress at the perennially under construction Bacon Funeral Home building a few blocks down the street!
