After the recent loss of their former president to the Virginia suburbs, the North Columbia Heights Civic Association (NCHCA) is regrouping under the able leadership of its new co-presidents, Brittany and Colleen. You may know the group from it many past activities, including neighborhood cleanups, a volunteer fair, and the annual 11th Street Halloween parade. NCHCA was also instrumental in establishing Friends of the Trolley Park (at 11th and Monroe) and implementing the new parking restrictions to ensure adequate parking spaces for local residents.

At their first meeting of the year, the group committed to continuing its existing activities and possibly starting some new ones. (Think candidate forums or a food festival on 14th Street, for example. The food festival especially sounds like an awesome idea.) But first they’re recruiting new and returning members to help lead committees, maintain their website and in general get stuff done.
