It’s an open secret among farmers market enthusiasts that September is the best time for farmers markets in the Mid-Atlantic region. The peaches, heirloom tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and summer squash are still in full force, but we’re also seeing the return of apples, winter squash, leafy greens, and other cool-weather crops. The overlap of late summer and early fall fruits and veggies is prime time for local eating, and you can stock up on local goods two times a week at the FRESHFARM Columbia Heights farmers markets!
On Saturdays, you’ll find the market from 9am to 1pm with an abundance of seasonal vegetables from Pleitez Produce Farm and 78 Acres, fruits from Three Springs Fruit Farm, bread and baked goods from Ravenhook Bakehouse and Rustiq Bakery, meats from Country Vittles, plus other favorites including Cold Country Salmon, Number 1 Sons, Just AJ’s, Qualia Coffee, and many more! This market is your one-stop shop for everything you need to get stocked up for the week.
Need to top up your fruit and veggie reserves mid-week before getting back to market over the weekend? The farmers market returns on Wednesdays from 4pm to 7pm with fresh produce from 78 Acres and Pleitez Produce. You can also satisfy your hump day carb craving with a treat from Ravenhook Bakehouse.
