Eleventh Street is really hopping these days. Aside from being called “Columbia Heights’ hip strip” by the New York Times and the incoming Maple, the Mexican spot El Chucho’s – Cocina Superior and a place from the folks who run the Diner and Tryst, comes some more news: the folks who run PORC, Purveyors of Rolling Cuisine, a barbeque food truck, are opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant and bar.
The place will be located at 3412 11th Street NW, which used to be Acuario. It’s between Meridian Pint and Columbia Heights Coffee. They’re aiming for a late spring or summer opening, and will also keep the food truck running, reports DCist. And another interesting fact about these guys, they started their food truck with an internet funding drive on Kickstarter.
Good news for 11th Street, which really is becoming a dining destination. It’s also good that the empty spot is being filled.
I hope people don’t start complaining about traffic or turning the area into Adams Morgan — it’s not.
