The folks behind Capital Bikeshare, the fantastic local bike sharing service, are planning to expand some more and our area will receive a few of the stations.
They also published a map (below) with existing stations in red, green are proposed locations for the first wave (“tier”) of new stations, and yellow are the second tier of proposed stations.
In our area, they’ve proposed a station on Hiatt Place right behind DCUSA, which is a great idea, and also 14th and Clifton, 14th and Euclid and 11th and Florida in the first tier. There’s also proposed stations at 14th and Upshur and 13th and U in the first tier and a 14th and Fairmont station in the second tier.
Those all seem like good locations to me, especially the DCUSA station. The others fill in some gaps in the system, though I wish they had one on Sherman or 11th around Girard, as they seems to be an area without many stations. In addition, Park View is virtually empty, a spot on Georgia or Warder would be nice.
