I’ve heard from a few folks lately who have been having problems with packages either going missing from outside their homes or being torn open — so be careful if you’re getting things delivered.
If you’ve had this happen, please call the police, and let us know in the comments the (general) area. I plan to get in touch with someone at DC Government too.
Here’s an email from one reader, and I’ve also heard of packages simply disappearing from the 1300 block of Spring Rd NW.
I’d like to flag that there are package thieves making the rounds on the 1400 block of Oak St. NW. Our guess is that they are trailing the UPS trucks, as they seem to have stolen packages from multiple addresses, torn apart the boxes, stolen the items inside, and then discarded the boxes in a heap on the street. Please remind people to be vigilant, especially as package volume picks up during the holidays. We’ve also alerted the police.
One option, if you can, would be the get the packages sent to your work or to a place like FedEx Office (RIP Kinkos.) Or does anyone else have any suggestions?
