If you have a bike and need to fix it, there’s a great, free bike clinic hosted by the Bike House Co-op, every Saturday at Annie’s Ace Hardware at 1240 Upshur Street NW. They had stopped for the winter, but I just received an email that they are opening up again.
It’s a great group — the idea is that they’ll help you figure out what’s wrong with your bike and teach you how to fix it; you just buy the parts at Annie’s, and they have a lot of the tools you’ll need to do the work.
And if you already know what’s wrong or what needs to be done, they can help with the tools or tips.
I’ve gone a few times when I couldn’t figure out why my tires kept going flat and they helped me out.
And unlike many bike store employees, the Bike House folks are friendly and patient.
