The Coupe has fantastic happy hour, tasty summer cocktail with DC’s One Eight Distilling vodka

The other day I was invited to check out happy hour at the Coupe, and to try their summer cocktail. The drink, called Grandma’s Pink Lemonade, is maybe with District Made Vodka from One Eight, a new DC-based distiller, plus straberry-lemon shrub and Madeira. The drink is served on tap for $9, and was pretty tasty: fresh, sweet but not too sweet with a warm and tangy finish. Jeff the bartender said they were pretty popular.

They also have a happy hour I wasn’t familiar with, which runs from 6-8 Monday-Friday, so a bit later than many other local ones. It’s $5 for local beer, house wine and Tiki punch (also served on draft) plus some great snack deals: $2 for orders of four Sriracha chicken wings, lox deviled eggs or corn hush puppies. I had the wings and hushpuppies, both of which were quite delicious. I could have eaten about a dozen more of the hushpuppies, which came with green tomato chutney and tartar sauce, a surprisingly delicious dipping sauce.

The spot also has trivia on Tuesdays, with the winning team getting $50 off their tab plus tickets to an upcoming 9:30 Club show. I don’t know much about the trivia itself, but that’s a pretty good deal.
