¡Más margaritas!
Taqueria Habanero, the popular Mexican spot a few doors down from the Red Derby, has applied for a liquor license. PoP spotted the signs in the window.
I’ve been there a few times and always really enjoyed it — tasty tacos with awesome house-made tortillas, plus enchiladas, tortas and other traditional Mexican fare. It’s all made in the Puebla style, which is where owner Dio Montero is from. The Post effusively praised the place and it has 4.5 stars on Yelp, no mean feat.
The interior is nothing special, some tables and plastic tablecloths (I usually get it to go) but I’d definitely spend more time there if I could have a margarita or two.
I hope the license application passes! I expect it will.
Taqueria Habanero is at 3710 14th Street NW.
