The other day I spotted a new restaurant in the space formerly occupied by Mama Chuy at Georgia and Fairmont: Biryani Exchange, an Indian restaurant with a $10 buffet plus $8 lunch specials. Here’s their full menu, with Indian dishes but also Mediterranean, like gyros.
The place has 3.5 stars on Yelp, almost all of which are either 5 stars or 1 star, which is kind of odd. The place has been open since September or October but I haven’t heard of it before — not a great sign. People are also big fans of Salt & Pepper Grill, another Indian/Pakistani spot just up the block, so we’ll see how they do.
They’re open 11am-11pm every day at 2620 Georgia Avenue NW.

I was sad to see Mama Chuy go, it was a brother-and-sister run Mexican spot and it was delicious.
