The Small Chop coffee and pastry pop-up at the Hilltop has ended, next venue TBA

Too bad! Small Chop, the awesome coffee and pastry pop-up that took over the Hilltop restaurant on Sherman Avenue during the day, has ended their run. The spot, which served coffee from Petworth’s Lost Sock Roasters, and delicious pastries from various local chefs, will be doing another pop-up somewhere else. I heard it might be at the Gibson at 14th and U but I can’t confirm.

If you haven’t been, it’s worth seeing where they go next, it was great stuff with nice folks and a good vice. I was a big fan of the Republic Kolaches, a type of Texas/Czech bread with filling — the sour cherry and king cake ones were great, as were the chorizo and egg. They also had things from Paisley Fig and other local pastry chefs. The coffee was awesome too.

Good luck Small Chop, hope to see you soon!
