Upshur Street Books, the nice store on its namesake street, was recently sold to a new owner, Hannah Depp, and renamed Loyalty Bookstore.

Depp describes herself as a career bookseller and the shop plans to focus on book clubs, workshops, having more children’s books, and also expanding their stationery options, as well as connecting more with Petworth Citizen’s Reading Room for events like the Literary Cocktails program.

Depp also says they’ve refreshed the interior and added more seating for both kids and adults, as well as interactive displays. Sounds cool.

Here’s a bit more from their website:

We are aiming to be the Mid-Atlantic’s neighborhood spot for wonderful books and unique home goods, gifts, and programming. Our staff and our selection highlight the diverse voices and creatives that make our communities great. When we think about what to feature in our store we focus on how we live in our homes. We provide books and goods for the home because, well, books are home.

And there are lots of events below, check them out! They’re also looking to open a Silver Spring location in addition to the Upshur Street one.
